IT'S THE WEEKEND - Shopping with Keiligh Baker: Mother's Day gift ideas

First published in News

EVERY mum is different, so here's some help for this Mother's Day.

To make it easier I've taken a number of different categories your mum may fall into and found a perfect perfume and a present to match. The hardest part for you is deciding which kind of mum you have:

The Traditional Mum

For a wonderfully classic lady, go classic with your perfume.

Chanel No. 5, £87.50 or Coco Mademoiselle, £87, both from Boots, are well suited to this type of mum. It may remind her of her wild and misspent youth.

Why not also treat her to afternoon tea or a beautiful bouquet from one of her favourite stores - Marks and Spencer? The precious mum bouquetta, £30, will let her know she's loved and appreciated.

The Quirky Mum

A scent like no other, Thierry Mugler's Alien Eau Extraordinaire is fresh, floral and a little bit musky. Inspired by the original Alien by Thierry Mugler, Alien Eau Extraordinaire is a fusion of fresh Tunisian neroli and bergamot, tiara blossom, cashmere wood and white amber.

A sensual fragrance, this floral, woody and amber perfume is available from the Perfume Shop from £49.

Another gift would be to appeal to her fashion sense. Quirky mum is always wearing, shall we say, different clothing. Pamela Mann Galactic tights, £9.99 from www.pamelamann.co.uk then, are apt.

The Hippy Mum

The hippy mum does not care for animal testing, so treat her to Body Shop's White Musk Smoky Rose Eau de Parfum from £15.

Another gift well suited to hippy mum is the Artisan Seeded Flowerpot Bread Making Kit, which will let her impress friends and family with delicious home baked bread.

The kit contains four small terracotta flowerpots, multi seeded bread mix, yeast and step by step instructions. It also looks really cute, which is obviously very important. £15 fromwww.notonthehighstreet.com

The Glamorous Mum

Nothing would suit glam mum more than Giorgio Armani's newest perfume - Si. The fragrance opens with notes of Sicilian Bergamot, Mandarin oil and Liquer de Cassis which is supported by a heart which bursts with Rose de Mai absolute, Neroli absolute and Egyptian Jasmine absolute. This perfume is decadence and glamour incarnate and smells expensive and classy. From £43.50 at the Perfume Shop.

Also treat glam mum to a pair of 50s inspired catseye sunglasses from M&S, £15.

The Sporty Mum

Buy Marc Jacobs Daisy Delight Edition, a combination of juicy, sun-drenched floral tones, the scent is fruity and fresh. £47.50 from the Perfume shop.

Why not also buy her some new kit for her spinning classes - M&S's Gym Slim Vest has tummy control and gives you a flattering shape. Wear it on it's own or as a layering piece. £17.50 from Marks and Spencer.

The Mum Who Has Everything Mum

Nina Ricci perfume tends to attract a younger audience, but the latest, La Tentation De Nina, is distinctly adult. . Available at The Perfume Shop in EDT 50ml, £39.50.

The one thing the mum who has everything may not have is the Magnitone Pulsar, a new must-have skincare gadget.

This revolutionary device is designed with Active Electromagnetic Technology to help you achieve visibly younger, smoother, clearer and fresher feeling skin in just seven days. It's basically a giant electric toothbrush for your face, and it works like a charm.

The technically advanced brush head provides more than 15,000 rotational oscillations per minute, ensuring that skin receives a much deeper exfoliation and more thorough cleanse without any irritation. It can also help increase collagen in skin, gives softer, smoother and clearer looking skin tone and, most importantly, can help diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. £64.99 from Boots
