POLICE were keeping children away from St Julians pond after a 13 year old discovered a live hand grenade and put it in his pocket. On inspection a further six hand grenades were found at the site.

AN 18 year old Nottinghan student was rescued from Llangattock caves after being trapped in cramped conditions for fourteen hours.

The Newport Power Station in Corporation Road was brought to a standstill because of a shortage of staff.

Bedwas and Machen Council were to engage a consultant architect to speed up work on their £1.25million development scheme for 500 houses at Graig y Rhacca.
