CHANGES to Royal Mail delivery mean Newport residents may receive their post at a different time of day.

Due reduced volumes of letters being sent and increases in parcels, the company says it is trying to make delivery more efficient with new routes and methods, such as postmen sharing a van.

The service will still deliver to homes six days a week and “many customers” will continue to get their mail before lunchtime.

But customers in NP10 and NP20 postcodes may notice letters arriving earlier or later in the day.

There will be no job losses as a result of these changes and Royal Mail will be writing to everyone affected.

A spokesman for Royal Mail said: “Royal Mail will be doing everything possible to maintain a high level of service and thanks customers for their understanding.”

Part of the changes will see delivery staff using shared vans and trolleys.

The changes will come in over the next few weeks.
