X Factor auditions in Newport this Friday

PRODUCERS will be seeing if the people of Newport have the X Factor when auditions are held this Friday in the city centre.

The X Factor team will be at the Kingsway Centre between 10am and 3pm to hold the first stage of mobile auditions for the signing competition. The show’s judges, which this year includes the return of Cheryl Cole and Simon Cowell, will not be present for the first stage of auditions, but producers will be set -up in an empty unit inside the shopping centre.

Michael Hine, Kingsway Centre manager, said: “We are hoping for a good response. The producers say they can’t tell how many will turn up, but are expecting a high turnout.

“It will bring an extra dimension altogether to Newport shoppers and youngsters coming down on the day.”

“We’ve had Casualty filming here but not something of this nature before.”

The centre have made queue arrangements to the unit opposite B and M where the auditions will be held.

The auditions will run until 4.30pm for those in full time education and are only open to contestants who are 16-years-old or older. For more information, visit itv.com/xfactor

Why do you immediately say it's April Fool's joke? That is somewhat in line with how the do some of the initial auditions.

In all likeliness, it was a April Fool's joke tho. I mean... c'mon, Newport?

I can confirm this is not an April Fool. These are, if you like, the auditions for the auditions - which is how programmes like this work.

They should hold it up the civic centre, there's enough clowns and jokers up there, ( councillors).

Unfortunately, I don't think being a clown or making a joke counts as singing...

I don't think they will have much difficulty finding comedians in Newport, or attracting the untalented losers. Have you heard the joke about the Newport 'planning' dept ? (Cracks me up every time).

Well, they have polish, deaf (!), and Italian entrants, so why not ? we live in a multicultural world of infinite minorities, get used to the idea.... I doubt genuine welsh speakers would want **** all to do with this show anyway which is for 8 yr olds simpletons and cry babies. You don't need to be a fanatic to speak welsh, my grandmother was born in Carmarthen and always spoke it, she was the least fanatical person I have ever met. My niece also speaks welsh, she is proud of being able to, and not fanatical either, we do tend to get peed off with fanatical English language speakers whose sole skill in global communications is shouting at foreigners..
