MORE than two thirds of men in Wales don’t know how to check themselves for the signs and symptoms of testicular cancer, new research has revealed.

The survey, released this month by UK male cancer charity Orchid, showed 68 per cent of Welsh men don’t know how to check themselves and 61 per cent would shy away from visiting their GP if they discovered a lump – the highest of all UK regions.

To encourage men to be more open about the signs and symptoms of male cancers, Orchid is launching their first confidential, freephone helpline on April 7.

Specialist advice and support will be available every Monday and Wednesday, 10am-5pm, on 0808 802 0010.
