TINTERN Abbey is one of the UK’s best tourism attractions, according to its visitors.
The historic site won the award, given by Irish bus tour operator, CIE Tours International, for the second consecutive year.
The tour operator recognised the quality of the UK’s hotels and visitor attractions by awarding Tintern Abbey and 31 other tourism providers, a merit award in its UK Awards of Excellence.
The award ceremony was held at Glasgow’s Crowne Plaza Hotel on April 3.
Ryan Evans, a custodian at Tintern Abbey, said: “We’re delighted, and the fact that it has been voted for by visitors makes it even more special.
“Excellent customer service is one of the priorities at all of Cadw’s sites, of which there are 129 across the whole of Wales.”
“We are delighted that visitors to Tintern Abbey have enjoyed their experience, and we hope that the award will encourage more people to come and discover the history and story of the Abbey.”
