THREE Newport men have been banned from seeing each other for two years after causing a campaign of misery for residents and shopkeepers in the city.

Kyle Hooper, 21, and Calvin Hooper, 19, of Feering Street, Victoria, and Kingsley Borg, 20, of Lliswerry Road, caused criminal damage by throwing bricks and stones, set off fireworks at others, and intimidated shoppers and shopkeepers in the Moorland and Broadmead Park areas, Newport Magistrates’ Court was told.

Gwent Police crime and disorder reduction officer, PC Leanne Pole, said they were also guilty of shouting and swearing in the street and threatening violence.

They were each issued with two-year Anti-Social Behaviour Orders (ASBOs) on March 18, which said they are not to associate with one another until March 2016.

The ASBOs also said that none of them can gather in a group of more than three people, including themselves, in a public place unless at any pre-organised event, or associate with Curtis Hooper, Connor Hooper, Ben Thomas or Tyler Whittington.

Borg is not to associate with Curtis Hooper and Connor Hooper, while Kyle Hooper and Calvin Hooper are not to associate with Ryan Moody.

Borg is also prohibited from any of the side streets off Cromwell Road or from entering Moorland and Broadmead Parks

Kyle and Calvin Hooper are not to enter Moorland or Broadmead parks unless attending at a family member's house, having given prior notice to the police of intention to attend.

They can only be in Moorland or Broadmead Park when attending a family member’s address.

If the order is breached in any way, then a custodial sentence can be imposed by the court.

PC Pole said: "We hope these ASBOs reassure residents and sends a clear message to those acting in an anti-social manner, that this type of behaviour will not be tolerated.

"We will use every type of legislation available to stop this type of activity and ensure that residents in Newport can live in peace.”

The ASBO is in place until March 18 2016. If any member of the public witnesses a breach of the ASBO report it to Gwent Police by calling 101.
