A MAN appeared in court on drug and firearm charges today following an armed police raid in Newport.
Benjamin Hassani, 34, of Ridgeway Drive, Newport, was brought in custody before magistrates in the city this morning.
His arrest came after armed officers raided a property in Ridgeway Drive on Tuesday.
Hassani has been charged with one count of possessing a firearm in Newport on April 15.
He also faces three counts of being concerned with the supply of cannabis in Newport on March 29, 2011, February 17, 2014, and April 10, 2014.
He has also been charged with one count of perjury on March 29, 2011.
No pleas were entered during the hearing at Newport Magistrates' Court.
Magistrate Keith Green remanded Hassani in custody to appear at Newport Crown Court on May 1.
