FIREFIGHTERS were called to several grass fires in Torfaen, Newport and Blaenau Gwent tonight.
A crew from New Inn was called to a deliberate grassfire in Pontypool Park at 6.49pm. A South Wales Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said one hose reel was used to extinguish the blaze.
In Newport, a grassfire was reported in St Julian's Park at 7pm and is being dealt with by a crew from Maindee.
A crew from Abersychan attended a grassfire at Cold Barn Farm, Trevethin just after 7pm that has been extinguished.
Abersychan crew also responded to a report of a grassfire at the Youth and Activity Centre on Woodside Road, Pontypool and at The British, Talywain.
A crew from Blaina were called to a report of a mountain fire above Dyffryn Park, Blaina. The South Wales Fire and Rescue Service urged parents to make sure their children are not in the area as the fire is spreading.
