A MAN from Newport will cycle the Great Wall of China on September 19 this year.
Robert Taylor, 32, from Duffryn, has wanted to do something like this for years and finally took the leap after the a death in the family.
“My nan passed away last year after a heart related illness. Her husband passed a few years before after a heart related illness. It’s something close to our family and my family have already raised money for the British Heart Foundation”, he said.
The 450km cycle will take Robert and his friend Kris Mayo six days.
Mr Taylor, who is studying nutrition at the University of South Wales in the Caerleon campus, hopes to raise thousands of pounds for the British Heart Foundation.
He has organised a fundraiser at The Courtyard in Newport on June 1.Tickets are £5. Doors open at 6pm.
