A KEEN gym enthusiast with plans to join the police force has been crowned this year’s Miss Torfaen.

Molly Webb, 17, was scouted by the competition organisers as she was working in a clothes shop, Gilly Hicks, in St David’s Shopping Centre, Cardiff.

She said: “The organisers of the competition approached me and told me to apply, so when I got home, I looked on their website and filled in the form and submitted two photographs of myself.”

Molly, from Pontnewydd in Cwmbran, believes she was approached as she always makes an effort with her appearance and when she told her family, they were all very excited for her.

She said: “Modelling is something I would like to do and I took part in Cardiff Fashion Week in 2013, where I wore a range of outfits on the catwalk.”

After being invited for an interview as part of the competition, she was crowned Miss Torfaen on April 26 by competition organiser, Vibe.

At the final, she modelled a party dress and an evening gown before eventually winning the title.

Currently studying for A levels in History, Religious Education and PE at Croesyceiliog School, she hopes to join the police force and attends the gym four to five times a week in an effort to keep fit.

She said: “My dad’s a fire man and my sister is a paramedic so I think being involved in the emergency services sort of runs in the family.

“But being Miss Torfaen has made me grow in confidence and it has opened up an opportunity where having a career as a model is a step closer.”

Molly is now considering putting her education on hold, by taking a year out between sixth form and university, where she has been accepted to study criminology, to see what new career choices have opened up for her.

She added: “I’m keen to play an active role as Miss Torfaen and would like to raise money for charity and attend events, but it’s all very new to me at the moment.”

Molly will now compete for the Miss Wales title.

So all someone needs to do is create a sufficiently convincing website and they can then get attractive young ladies to email them with all their personal details and a couple of photographs.

Or do I just have too suspicious a mind?
