Hope he recovers soon, but whenever I go down that part of Commercial Road I see drivers double-parked, parked badly or driving past traffic queues on the wrong side of the road, and pedestrians wandering across the road. It seems that the highway code doesn't apply in Pill...

yeah because nowhere else in the whole of Newport has people who double park nor has people wandering across the road, dammit, why does this strange phenomenon ONLY happen in Pill?.

I hope this young lad gets better soon. I use this road most days and am not surprised that an accident has happened. This road is a death trap. Badly parked cars, no-one waits till the road is clear to go round them, just barge their way through.

Please don't misinterpret this. I have noticed that there are a large number of Eastern European and other ethnic minority businesses along that road, serving that particular section of our community. If you see film of those countries' traffic management you may notice a slightly different approach to parking, and general road positioning! Not a race issue, a cultural one. Yes, double parking takes place elsewhere but in my admittedly limited drives through Pill I have noticed it more in that part of Newport. So that is a question - is it cultural? - not an assumption. (Cue Katie....)

Thanks for all your concern. He is doing well just waiting to go down for surgery. Has a very badly broken led and shoulder. He was also annoyed that yoy have reported that he is 11 when he will be 13 in august. As you can tell he is in good spirits :-)

I am not suggesting bad parking etc. happens ONLY in Pill - but is much much worse than the norm
