NEWPORT businesses are set to join hundreds of volunteers in this year’s Give and Gain Day.

On May 16, 1,000 volunteers from companies across Wales will be working on projects that will make a real difference to people’s lives, in the sixth Give and Gain Day.

In Newport, around 90 volunteers from Lloyds Banking Group will be supporting a series of sporting activities. The Newport Community Games, hosted by Llanwern High School, will bring together over 200 children from Ringland Primary School, Milton Junior School, Alway and Lliswerry Primary Schools to take part in eight sports. Volunteers from Lloyds will be refereeing, coordinating matches, scoring games and acting as team leaders and motivators.

Jason Evans, of Lloyds Banking Group, said: “We are incredibly proud to be supporting Give & Gain Day again this year.

“Whilst thousands of our colleagues volunteer throughout the year, this annual date provides an excellent focus and all of us are really looking forward to getting stuck into the Community Games in Newport. It’s a chance for our team to really give something back to the communities in which we operate.”
