MONMOUTHSHIRE folk rock band Rusty Shackle will play at Glastonbury Festival in June.

They will play its Avalon Main Stage after arriving home from their US tour.

Arcade Fire, Kasabian, Jake Bugg, Pixies, Elbow and Dolly Parton will be playing on the same stage during the festival.

They will also be playing at the Wakarusa Festival on June 5 and 6 before playing in Nashville, Houston, Dallas and Austin.

Their fiddle and banjo player, Scott McKeon, said: “We have always thought our sound would sit nicely in the US particularly in the southern states. We just can’t wait to get over there and start gigging now.”

The Caldicot-based sextet formed in 2010 and draw influences from bluegrass, folk, rock, Celtic and blues music. Their debut album Wash Away These Nights was released in 2011 and won a slot on the Olympic Torch Relay Concert in Cooper’s Field, Cardiff in 2012, where they played alongside Emeli Sandé.

Their second album made it to number 13 in the iTunes singer/ songwriter charts.
