A TEAM of Newport staff are cycling 175 miles this month from Chepstow to Fishguard to raise money for a cancer support charity.

The team of five staff and three friends from TT Electronics Integrated Manufacturing Services in Newport will be getting on their bikes for a three-day ride on May 22 to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.

This follows a successful bike ride in 2013 along the Taff Trail from Brecon to Cardiff Bay.

The idea was once again thought up by team leader Richard Croad, supply chain bid manager.

He said: “TT Electronics is in the final year of supporting Macmillan as its charity of the year and with so many of us having personal experience of cancer, it seemed only right to give it one last fundraising push and doing something a little bit more ambitious for such a great cause.

“Admittedly it is only the crazy ones that are entering this time.

“Last year we raised over £7,500 from a great team bike ride so this year we want to really challenge ourselves and hope that people will be supportive and even more generous.”

The team have been busy training in preparation and hope to beat last year’s total and with match funding from the company this should be able to achieve this.
