A THEATRE company will recreate the day the Chartist Mural was torn down this Friday.
Core Theatre was formed by three students who met through their University of South Wales theatre course.Hammi Bilkha, Steve Bond, and Alex Barnston, asked city residents to get in touch with them and talk about their experience of that day on October 3, 2013. They then used the testimony collected to create a narrative about the day the mural was brought down.
Mr Bilkha said: “Core Theatre have been delighted with the outpouring responses from the Newport community. The experience on the day will further give them a chance to share their thoughts on the destruction of the Mural, so it will be well worth turning up. Core Theatre looks forward to showing of our first project Charting The Future.”
It starts at 3pm at 30 Skinner Street Newport. Entry is free and free tea, coffee and Welsh cakes will be served.
