SUPER MARKET SWEET: Cwmffrwdoer Primary School pupils with Tesco staff

First published in News

PUPILS from Cwmffrwdoer Primary School were treated to an inside look at the daily duties of staff at supermarket giants Tesco.

The 'farm to fork' session saw 29 reception pupils from the school visit the Pontypool store.

Greeting them was Tesco Pontypool’s community champion leader Louise Harnett, who is keen for the community to see what tasks staff undertake in the shop.

The pupils enjoyed a tour of the store, before donning aprons and hats to find out what goes on in the bakery and to learn how bread is made.

They then took part in workshops, sampling a range of fruit and vegetables, and finding out the workings of the deli and trying a range of cheeses.

They filled in worksheets and took part in a colouring activity.

In the future, other schools from Torfaen will be invited to take part in a visit to the store.

Ms Harnett is keen to work within the community and has been visiting local community events.

She is also helping the store to raise funds for Lindsay Clarke, 33.

The mother of three from Talywain has been bed-bound since December as a result of the rare autoimmune disease, Stiff Person Syndrome, and needs a £300,000 stem cell transplant.

This is news? I know for a fact that 2 of Tesco's rivals do the same thing several times a year.
