STUDENTS are being urged to submit ideas to reduce carbon emissions in a bid to win one of four university scholarships worth £8,500.
The Postcode Lottery Green Challenge Scholarship competition was created to inspire a new breed of students for the ‘green economy’ jobs, expected to emerge by 2020 in the UK, and will offer winners a green-themed postgraduate degree course at the Open University.
One of the judges, Helen Walker, international head of development with The Climate Group, said: “We need to see more students coming through with green credentials, new skills and fresh thinking to shape how we live and do business.”
“I’d encourage anyone with a green idea to grab this chance – we’re not looking for a finished product, but an innovative concept that could be brought to market.”
A panel will view entries, looking for ideas combining sustainability, entrepreneurship and creativity.
