ARGUS ARCHIVE: 25 years ago - Gwent floppy disk firm could be saved

Workers at the crippled Parrot corporation factory claimed they were owed up to £1000 in back pay and they had been issued with ‘bouncing’ work cheques.

South Wales Argus:

Gwent Health Authority dramatically backed down over the plan to close the maternity unit at County hospital, Griffithstown in the face of legal threats from Gwent county council.

Newport borough council staff faced a half-day strike by more than 400 staff because it was to drop its policy of no compulsory redundancies.

Gwent education bosses were bracing themselves for a furious reaction after they unveiled plans for a massive shake-up in secondary schools.

Its a shame this doesn't go into any detail.. A decent retrospective on an interesting article with perhaps some follow-up would be a great feature.

Have to agree there UpsetResident,25 years ago when the Argus was a proper newspaper staffed by proper journalists and full of news too,I thought when the price increased not so long ago we were told it was to fund a whole new fatter better Argus ...seems to be the same old thin thing it has been for a good few years to me
