A BLAENAVON man has been sentenced to three years in prison after pleading guilty to a charge of assault with intent to rob.

Daniel Green, 21, of Hillside Avenue in Blaenavon, had only been out of prison for one month when he attacked a man on Osborne Road in Pontypool and attempted to steal money from him.

A swift response from local officers resulted in Green being identified and arrested within hours of the offence.

He had previously been sentenced to 15 months in a Young Offenders Institute in July 2013 for burglary.

He appeared before Cardiff Crown Court on April 24.

He was sentenced to three years imprisonment.

Surely he was license as well ? Should be 3 years for recent offence and another 15 months for previous offence ! Also to run consecutively . Which means it should be 4 year's and 3 months . And with breaching licence should be made to do the whole sentence . That's my theory anyway or is that to lenient or to harsh ?

And yet, less than 8 months later he's commiting another offence! It's a hell of a system we've got!

Life doesn't mean life, 15 months doesn't mean 15th months!
The punishment doesn't fit the crime.
If you do the crime, u don't do the time!
Crime can often pay!
True british justice is flawed!

Its not really a comforting thought is it!

He should of at least be doing the rest of sentence for previous offence as he as broken terms of his licence ! The system is flawed but seems to work for meaningless offences and not the most serious of offences .
