JUST three per cent of certified zero carbon homes completed in Wales, England and Northern Ireland in the last seven years have been in Wales, according to a report by the UK’s Governments communities department.
The statistics relate to the code for sustainable homes where certificates are issued at two stages, design and post-construction.
Across the three nations, 174,580 homes were given a three star rating at the design stage and 58,756 were given four stars, making them zero carbon homes.
At the post-construction phase, 122,949 dwellings received three stars while 30,273 were zero carbon homes. At design-stage, 9,542 certificates (four per cent) were issued in Wales , and 3,920 (three per cent ) after construction.
