A HEALTH fair took place at Eveswell Primary School, Chepstow Road, Newport last week to promote the importance of healthy eating and fitness.

Children looked at the importance of clean hands using the Glo-bugs machine and took part in a banana hunt on the school yard.

There were workshops for children and their parents to look at how to make a healthy lunch box, which were run by Newport council’s healthy schools link teacher Lynn Phillips.

Dietitians from Aneurin Bevan University Health board gave talks on the eat well plate, and the amount of sugar in children’s drinks.

A rowing machine from Active Newport put the children through their paces with a rowing challenge and staff gave the pupils the opportunity to try fruit, kebab making, fruity stories and a variety of fitness activities.

The group who ran the day would like to thank everyone involved and look forward to running it again next year.
