Firefighters tackle blaze at derelict Newport pub

FIRE crews tackled a fire at a derelict pub in the Pill area of Newport tonight.

Firefighters extinguished a small fire on the second floor of the old Kings Arms on Commercial Road after receiving a call at 6.23pm.

Crews from Maindee, Malpas, Duffryn and Cwmbran attended and found two males on the third floor. They were instructed to leave the building by firefighters.

It is not yet known how the fire was started.

Gwent Police said they are now securing the building. No one was injured.

squatting isn't an arrest-able offence, unless they refuse to leave.

fire was most likely started by the people setting a bin or something fire to keep warm.

but i guess they cant legally say that as they cant be 100%.
