A DAD from Crosskeys has helped raise £1,700 with a charity bike ride to help his daughter walk.

Dan Robinson started his ride at Alexandra Palace in London at 11.30pm on June 7 with his friend Martyn Smith and didn’t finish the circular route until 6.19am the next morning. During this time the two of them covered 62 miles of the capital, as well as cycling five miles to and from the starting line.

They were raising money for five-year-old Olivia Robinson, who has cerebral palsy. A pioneering operation may be able to help her walk, but her parents have to fund it privately.

Mr Robinson said: “Completing the route gave me a huge sense of achievement with the added benefit of knowing I was directly raising money to help Olivia walk.”
