After being separated for 13 years, each thinking that the other had died, a husband a wife were re-united at Newport borough police court when the husband was charged for failing to maintain his wife.

She had become chargeable to the Newport Poor Law Union.

At a meeting of Newport town council, the town clerk was instructed to obtain particulars about any properties on High Street that would have to be acquired in order to bring about a road widening and improvement scheme.

A Caerleon Road GP summoned a Royal Gwent Hospital house surgeon for assault after a dispute over a seriously ill patient that the GP had sent to hosptal.

An elderly woman was brutally assaulted in St Julians Park. The attacker was in custody after customers of St Julian Inn heard her cries and went to her aid after alerting the local police.
