THESE fabric-covered coat-hangers are a perfect touch for a guest room or to encourage your youngsters to hang up their clothes. Here's our guide to creating them courtesy of Fabric Mills in Monmouth.

You will need:

Matching thread

Wire coat hanger - preferably white

Scissors / pinking shears

Fabric remnant at least 50cm square

Stitch Unpicker

Step 1:

Fold the fabric in half right sides together, and place the coat hanger on the fabric.

Draw round the coat hanger with a pencil. Add a 5cm seam allowance all around the drawn shape, then cut out along this line preferably using pinking shears.

Step 2:

Keeping the right side of the fabrics facing each other, sew all round the top edge of the Coat hanger shape following your original pencil line.

Step 3:

Fold the bottom edge 2.5cm into the wrong side and then fold in again by 2.5cm to create a hem and press. Sew the hem in place.

Step 4:

Using a stitch unpicker, make a small hole at the top for the coat hanger hook. Push through the coat hanger and if necessary sew around the hanger to neaten the hole.
