If you had to be stuck in a lift with someone, who would it be and why?

That’s a hard one, me being claustrophobic. Someone who would have to bring me around. Someone like Pamela Stephenson.

What is your biggest fear?

I’ve tried to conquer it, but I have to live with it: claustrophobia.

Do you have any superstitions

Not really. I’m quite often wary of Friday the 13th, but it doesn’t stop me from doing anything.

If you could listen to only one song for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?

I think it would have to be Unchained Melody, that’s me and my wife’s song. The Righteous Brothers version with Phil Spector’s production. It’s a lovely song and means a lot to us.

What is the most expensive thing you’ve bought, not including property?

A car. I can’t imagine anything other than property that would be dearer than a car. I bought a Jaguar several years ago. It was worth a lot then though it’s probably not worth a lot now, but it’s still worth a lot to me.

What is the best piece of advice you’ve been given?

Be nice to everybody, and treat them like you’d like to be treated yourself.

What is your indulgence?

We have so many haven’t we? I do like chocolate at the end of the day, with a cup of tea before bed.

What item could you not live without?

Probably my iPad. I never really wanted one, but I got bought one and I said I have a computer, why would I need one? Now I turn it on before the computer. Now you have your whole lives on them.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

Probably like a bit more patience. I suppose growing up in London in a fast-paced city you expect everything instantly, and I’m not a patient as I should be.

Where are you next going on holiday?

We do like cruises but we probably won’t be going on holiday for another 12 months. Afterwards, we’ll go on a cruise.
