A NEWPORT worker has jumped 12,000ft in memory of colleagues who lost their battle with cancer.
Jill Pobjoy, from the Office for National Statistics in Newport putting her fear of heights aside and jumped out of an aeroplane to raise funds for Cancer Research Wales.
Ms Pobjoy has recently celebrated her 50th birthday. She has worked at ONS for 32 years and has recently lost younger colleagues to cancer. So she decided to do a tandem skydive in their memory.
Last weekend, Ms Popjoy went to Swansea and jumped from a height of 12,000ft. The free fall element lasted for 47 seconds, travelling at 130mph before parachuting down for the remainder of the dive.
Ms Pobjoy will be keeping her feet firmly on the ground for now, but has so far raised more than £250.
