Get the whole family involved in an exciting day out at CANTREF ADVENTURE PARK in Brecon this summer as SOPHIE BROWNSON reports.
CELEBRATE the tenth birthday of Cantref – Brecon’s Biggest Adventure by bringing the family along to take part on some of the exciting events they have in store.
The family run adventure park, set in the stunning Brecon Beacons is a working farm, which offers games, soft play, activities, rides and animal encounters for all the family.
With regular live shows taking place throughout the day, children can get hands on experience feeding and handling some of the farm’s animals.
Set in the heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park the centre offers a fun-filled day for the whole family, with large hearted indoor play zone, a farmhouse café and animal shows scheduled throughout the day from pet handling to ferret racing.
The adventure park also boasts outdoor attractions including their Super Sledge Ride, Swamp Adventure and pony rides available to keep everyone entertained.
The award winning attraction- which can be easily reached from Cardiff, Newport, Hereford, Abergavenny, Swansea and the West Midlands, is also perfect for a great kids day out, so why not have your birthday party or pay a group visit to the farm? Perfect party activities include the exciting pony rides at The Cantref Adventure Farm. Pony ride sessions are £2 per rider are ideal for children who have little or no experience of horse riding and are led around by a friendly member of the show team.

As part of a great day out for the kids the adventure park offers families a hands on experience with some of our smaller animals.
From Guinea Pig Handling to Pony Rides; the park has the perfect recipe for when you looking for things to do with the kids in South Wales.
Why not try bottle feeding the lambs and provide Mum and Dad with the perfect photo opportunity!
Taking place twice a day the farm has all sorts of breeds on the farm from Welsh Mountain Sheep to Jacob sheep - come along on the Animal Encounter Tractor & Trailer ride and see all sorts of different animals that live on the farm.
Or check out the pet handling show where children get the chance to children get the chance to stroke rabbits, hold guinea pigs and learn lots of interesting facts about the animals.
Or visit the Pet Barn at Cantref where there is a wide variety of animals including rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas, and ferrets.
Another highlight includes the return of the paddle boats, which will be open periodically throughout the day.
In addition to their regular activities, they have some special events coming up to celebrate their tenth birthday, including the Peppa Pig Day on August 6, where Peppa will be making a live appearance at Cantref.
As well as the Cantref’s birthday bash on August 16, ‘LiveStock’ which will see the park celebrate with a special festival – including a performance from ‘One Direction Adventure’ tribute band.
There will also be live entertainment, street dancing and a disco.
A Pirates and Princess weekend, during the bank holiday weekend of August 23 to 25 will offer pirates and princesses from near and afar to visit for games, live shows, hidden treasures, walking the plank and prizes for best dressed. The centre is open from 10.30am - 5.30pm.
