Cwmbran man admits supplying cocaine

A CWMBRAN man has admitted conspiring to supply cocaine over four years in Torfaen.

Christopher Evans, 31, of Park Close, pleaded guilty at Cardiff Crown Court yesterday on the first day of what would have been his trial.

Evans was in the dock alongside two other defendants, who were also due to stand trial for conspiracy to supply a class A drug.

The offences took place in Torfaen from February 27, 2009 to May 8, 2013.

Ieuan Bennett, prosecuting, said the Crown would accept Mr Evans’ plea and drop the charge of conspiracy to supply against the two other defendants, Darren Pinkey and Ben Rodgers.

Mr Bennett gave two other alternative charges of possession of cocaine to Pinkey, 30, of Bagley Court in Cwmbran and Rodgers, 21, of Turnpike Close in Pontypool.

Mr Bennett said: “The evidence in respect of Darren Pinkey was that he was in the car with Christopher Evans. He was in fact was in possession of one drug wrap. He had also been in possession of just short of £300 in cash.”

He added that he had seen documentation that showed Pinkey had taken the cash from a cash point earlier in the day and that it “is not in the public interest” to continue with a trial.

Mr Bennett added that Rodger’s name appeared on a document next to “considerable” amount but the Crown was also willing to charge him with “simple possession”.

Pinkey pleaded guilty to one count of possession of a class A drug and Rodgers pleased guilty to two counts.

A fourth defendant, Chelsea Barnes, 21, of Hillside Drive, Pontypool also appeared in the dock and pleaded guilty to converting criminal property between February 27, 2009 and May 8, 2013.

Pre-sentence reports are now being produced for all four defendants. They will be sentenced at a date yet to be arranged.

What sad individuals the 2 fella's from Cwmbran are. No change from when they left school 15 years ago. Vile creatures, still up to the same tricks!
