TODAY for international cat day (really) we've got 7 cats or pairs who need homes. Is yours a feline-friendly home that could welcome a homeless cat?
All the cats are currently being cared for by the Gwent branch of the Cats Protection League.
1.The kittens with no name
These friendly and playful eight-week old male kittens would suit almost any home. They came in with their siblings from the Abergavenny area and have had their first vaccinations. They like any kind of food and love attention!
2. Sam
Sam is a handsome black male about two-years-old. He came into care from the Newport area as a stray. He is frustrated at being in a pen and would love a home of his own. No young children.
3. Rambo
Rambo is a handsome tabby male about three-years old who came into care after his owner rang to say that he had injured his back leg and they were not able to afford the vet fees.
4.Tom and Jerry
Tom (black and white) and Jerry (ginger) are two happy, playful little cats that are okay to go with dogs, other cats and with older children. They are around 12 weeks old and would like a home together.
5. Ebonie
Ebonie is a young black cat who turned up with her kittens in a garden in Garndiffaith. The owners fed her as she was very hungry and found she is very affectionate and adores being stroked and made a fuss of, enjoys being combed and loves attention all the time. She is spayed, tested negative for FIV and Felv and has been treated for worms and fleas. She can be homed with other cats and older children.
5. Jessie
Jessie is 18-months-old and was so named because she looks like Postman Pat’s cat Jess. She is being fostered at the moment, but "loves cuddles and just wants a family of her own."
6. Precious
Just 7-weeks-old, Precious was found abandoned in a cardboard box behind a skip in Blackwood. She was found to have a badly broken back leg, an injured paw and several infected puncture wounds, thought to have been caused by dog bites.
Vets managed to avoid amputating her leg and pinned her tiny limb in two places.
If anyone has any information about this very cruel act, please contact Gwent Cats Protection on 0845 371 2747 and it will be passed to the RSCPA and Gwent Police.
7. Taz
This poor cat has had difficulty breathing due to her chest not having developed properly, so there wasn't enough room in her chest area for her organs. Happily, the people at Gwent Cats Protection raised enough money to give her an operation to help her breathe more easily. She is now making a great recovery.
