Fire crews tackle Govilon house blaze
TWO fire crews put out a house fire in Govilon this evening.
Firefighters from Blaenavon and Abergavenny left the mid-terrace house on Dragon Lane at 7pm and 7.45pm respectively.
They had dealt with the blaze, which started in a bedroom, since 5.50pm.
The house was evacuated and one person was taken to hospital for a precautionary check up, a South Wales Fire and Rescue Service (SWFRS) spokeswoman said.
SWFRS’s head of fire control Jennie Griffiths had earlier tweeted that the first floor of the house was “well alight”.
