A BLACKWOOD man, who forced entry into two properties in the Blackwood area, stealing £30,000 worth of jewellery, has been sentenced to over four years in prison.

Jamie Thomas, 33, forced entry into two properties in the Blackwood area, the first, on the November 18, 2013 - a creeper burglary against an elderly couple where low value goods were stolen which had a serious impact on their lives.

The second burglary on the December 24, 2013, where Jamie Thomas went on to steal £30,000 worth of sentimental jewellery from an elderly widow (bought by her deceased husband) as well as bank cards.

He then used the cards to make fraudulent transactions at cash points in the local area.

Although Gwent Police managed to recover £10,000 worth of the jewellery, £20,000 worth of jewellery has never been found.

On the June 27, 2014, Jamie Thomas was sentenced to four years and two months in prison at Cardiff Crown Court.
