THERE will be no refuse or recycling collections in Newport on Thursday, September 4 because of the Nato summit taking place in the city.

Newport city council said delays are inevitable and so collections scheduled for that day will be picked up on Saturday, September 6.

Residents who normally have their waste collected on Thursdays are asked to put their bins, boxes and bags out for collections on Saturday after 7am. Anyone who will be affected will receive a notification nearer the date.

All refuse and recycling collections will take place as normal on Friday, September 5.

Since there will be an abnormal amount of media rubbish in Newport that weekend maybe the council really do need an extra 2 days to cope;)
