THE Prince of Wales will bring together world leaders and local people at an event to showcase the best of Wales at a reception on the first evening of the 2014 Nato Summit, it has been confirmed in the past few minutes.

The reception, which The Prince is hosting at the request of Her Majesty's Government, will be held at Newport’s Celtic Manor Resort, on Thursday 4 September and will also provide an opportunity for the government to thank people from across Wales who will have been involved in delivering the largest gathering of world leaders the UK has ever seen.

The Prime Minister, First Minister Carwyn Jones and Secretary of State for Wales Stephen Crabb will join The Prince at the event where guests will be entertained by Welsh music stars and served up a taste of Wales.

Representatives from the local Councils, business representatives, schoolchildren and cadets have been invited along with Welsh winners of the St David and the Points of Light Awards.

Secretary of State for Wales, Stephen Crabb said: “Wales is a confident, outward-looking nation and we are proud to be hosting this historic Nato Summit.

“The reception hosted by The Prince of Wales is our opportunity to promote Wales to the world and to thank the local community for their amazing hospitality.”

The Summit will be held in Newport, Wales, at the Celtic Manor Resort on 4-5 September.

60 senior statesmen and women from Nato member states and nations that partner with Nato have been invited to the first day of the summit and to the evening reception.
