FOOD businesses are celebrating after their products were recognised for excellence at this year’s Great Taste Awards.

The delicacies include a “24-carrot” jam, chilli-dilli pickle, Patagonian preserve and spiced pear and apple chutney made by Usk River in Station Road, Abergavenny.

The Preservation Society in Victoria Road, Chepstow, won gongs for its “ravishingly raspberry”, "blackberry bramble" and cranberry sirops while Terry’s Patisserie at the Euro Business Park in Aberbargoed was recognised for its Penderyn liqueur chocolate torte.

And Scarlet Angel Ltd at Penmaen Business Centre, Pontllanfraith, scooped an award for its organic hot Louisina Cajun sauce.

Minister for economy, science and transport, Edwina Hart said yesterday [August 21]: “I’d like to congratulate the 62 Welsh food businesses recognised at this year’s Great Taste Awards.

“Success at prestigious events such as this is incredibly valuable in highlighting the excellent quality of our Welsh products to consumers across the UK and beyond.”
