TALENTED artists across South Wales will have the chance to show off their skills by entering a Tredegar festival.

This October artists and groups have the chance to perform the annual TredFest’s battle of the bands competition.

There will be four heats held every weekend throughout October starting at The Rhyd Hall in Tredegar on Saturday, October 4.

The remaining ones will take place in The Castle, The Cambrian and Ye Olde Red Lion on Friday, 10, 17 and 24.

The winners of each heat will then do battle at the grand final, to be held at Venue 1 on Saturday, November 1, for the chance to win a cash prize, a live recording session and the opportunity to open the Main Stage at TredFest 2015.

TredFest Director Andrew Cotton said, “This will be the first year that we have organised a Battle of the Bands competition and we are delighted to have Tai Calon and BRfm on board to help us deliver it.

“This event will form the start of our preparations for the TredFest music festival due to take place in May 2015.

“The Battle of the Bands competition will give new and established local musicians and songwriters the opportunity to perform their own music to a new audience”

The Battle of the Bands contest is open to solo artists, duos and bands of all styles with the only criteria being that each act is able to play a 30 minutes set of mostly original music with only two cover songs per performance allowed.

There are a limited number of places available in the competition and will be awarded on a first come, first served basis. Artists wishing to take part are asked to apply online by emailing tredfest@outlook.com or by sending a message to TredFest’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/tredfest.
