THREE people were seriously injured in Caerleon after a car hit them on Saturday.
The three, a 79-year-old man, a 71-year-old woman and a 63-year-old man, sustained serious injuries and are being treated at the Royal Gwent Hospital.
Gwent Police said a gold Vauxhall Corsa hit them on Ponthir Road in Caerleon opposite the Roman Lodge Hotel at around 9.05 pm on Saturday evening.
A spokeswoman said the man driving the Corsa and the female passenger left the scene before police arrived. The man is white, about 20-years-old and was wearing dark bottoms and a white t-shirt. He is described as having short hair. The female passenger is described as having shoulder length hair and wearing trousers and a jacket.
Police are appealing for any witnesses to the collision to come forward and in particular anyone who may have seen the Corsa being driven before the incident. They believe the car was driven in the direction of Ponthir from Caerleon Town Centre.
Anyone with information is asked to call Gwent Police on 101 quoting log 595 23/8/14.
