A CHEPSTOW nursery nurse has raised over £1,000 by having her head shaved for charity.

Mum of two Sharleen Greenhalgh, of Bulwark Avenue, had her blonde hair taken off at the Two Brewers pub on August 15 and hopes to top it up to £1,500 in the next couple of weeks before donating it all to Cancer Research.

She said she intends her hair to grow back because her mother “would never forgive” her if she kept her new style.

But Mrs Greenhalgh, who is married to Martin and has daughters Sofia, six, and Eva, five, said her colleagues at the nursery had told her the new do suited her and that she has got a “nice shaped head”.

She was raising money in memory of her father-in-law who passed away with cancer seven years ago and other colleagues who had also suffered with the disease.

She said she was driven to do something “a bit different” to raise money for charity after completing Cancer Research’s Race for Life in Bristol last year. She is hoping to do the same run again next year.
