TWO people arrested following a crash in Caerleon which saw three people taken to hospital have been bailed.
The crash happened at around 9.05 pm on Saturday August 23 when a gold Vauxhall Corsa hit three pedestrians opposite the Roman Lodge Hotel.
A 79-year-old man, a 71-year-old woman and a 63-year-old man sustained serious injuries but are believed to be in a stable condition receiving treatment at Newport's Royal Gwent Hospital.
A 20-year-old man from Caerleon was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injuries through dangerous driving; on suspicion of failing to stop at a road traffic collision; and failing to report a road traffic collision. He is due to answer on November 10.
A 41-year-old man, from Newport, has been arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice and assisting an offender. He has been released on police bail pending further enquiries and is due to answer on October 22.
Police are appealing for any witnesses to the crash to come forward and in particular anyone who may have seen the Corsa being driven before the incident.
It's believed the car was driven towards Ponthir from the centre of Caerleon.
