NEWPORT businessmen and women will be swopping their suits for sumo wrestler costumes to help a Duffryn community project buy a new minibus.

Members of the Newport Business Mile, set up by Gocompare.com and Acorn recruitment, will be taking part in an It's a Knockout challenge at Tredegar House on Sunday, September 14.

The money raised by the 15 teams of 10 will go towards a minibus for the Duffryn Community Link, a charity that helps 10,000 residents with education, skills and employment. A minibus will help the community to access opportunities and experiences beyond the Duffryn area.

Kath Chadwick, PR manager at Gocompare.com, said: "We thought it'd be nice to have an event and involve both the businesses and the community."

Spectators are also invited along to the event from noon until 4pm and there will be bouncy castles, stalls and rides on offer as well as the main It's a Knockout challenge.

It's a Knockout is the first fundraising event being held by Newport Business Mile to help raise the £10,000 needed for a minibus.

Teams will need to raise £260 between them to cover the cost of the event but organisers hope they can contribute about £500 to the fundraising.
