TREDEGAR House - which earlier this year hosted the Antiques Roadshow - will feature in the BBC TV programme's new title sequence from this weekend.

The Newport landmark provided the backdrop for the show in June, with the first programme from that visit set to be aired later this year, and a second expected next year.

But the National Trust-run venue will have a brief presence in all Antiques roadshow programmes for the foreseeable future, as from tomorrow it will appear in the opening sequence.

Five thousand people enjoyed the summer sunshine on the day of the June filming and it is hoped that the brief but invaluable exposure at the beginning of a popular Sunday evening series, will provide another boost for its profile.

“We’re incredibly excited to appear at the start of the Antiques Roadshow programme. It’s such an iconic, household name and it’s certainly part of my family’s Sunday evening ritual," said Jo Cartwright, general manager at Tredegar House.

"Not only is this very exciting for us as a team at Tredegar House, it serves as a lovely reminder of our wonderful day filming with the BBC team earlier this year.

"It is great for Newport too as it showcases just some of its beauty and heritage. We hope it will act as a positive boost to help put the city on the map.”

Tomorrow evening's Antiques Roadshow Antiques will air at 8pm on BBC One.
