A NEWPORT actress is on her way to stardom after finishing filming her latest role in a new independent feature film.

Hollie Burrows, 19, plays ‘mean girl’ Paige in The Singing Bird Will Come, a psychological thriller set to be released in December.

Speaking about her new film, Miss Burrows said: “It’s a ghost story and everyone likes to watch a scary movie.

"The film is about a girl who has to go back to her hometown because her mother’s died and her relationship has broken up.

“She‘s also lost her job so she’s at a pretty low ebb in her life.

"She takes a job as a night cleaner in a local restaurant and all kinds of weird and strange things start happening.

“I play a character called Paige in the film and she’s spends most of her time trying to undermine and belittle Lauren, the lead played by Gillian Harker.

“I loved this part because I got to play a mean girl and normally I tend to get ‘the girl next door’ roles so I really relished the opportunity to go out of my comfort zone and develop my acting skills.

“That’s why I love acting, you can transform yourself into a completely different person and through your performance, evoke so many different emotions in someone.”

Miss Burrows has been attending auditions around the country and has been offered parts in two new feature films.

She finished filming The Singing Bird Will Come, directed by Iain Ross McNamee and produced by Amanda Owen-Roberts, in the summer.

She added: “I also got to work with model/actor Benji Taylor, runner up on Mr Supernational 2014, and he plays my clueless and naive on screen boyfriend.

“Benji was great fun to work with as were all the cast. I loved working on this production, everyone was so talented and hard working and I’m so excited to see the finished film at our premiere on November 9.

“Acting has taught me a lot about myself, the more I grow as a person the more I want to succeed as an actress and if you believe in yourself, I feel you can accomplish anything you want.

"Acting is my job, but it never feels like work to me and everything I do gets me closer to bigger and better opportunities.”

The film also stars Charles O'Neill, Lolliella Wilson, Ernest Vernon, Aaron Jeffcoate, Cara Middleton, Patricia Drabble, and Richard Oliver.
