GWENT Police have issued a fresh appeal for information after what is believed to be an armed robbery at a shop in Newport.

They have released an e-fit image of a man they are trying to trace following the incident at the Spar shop in Bettws.

A man, believed to have been holding a "bladed object", entered the store at 7am and demanded cash from the shop assistant. A quantity of cash was taken and the offender left the store.

The two women working in the shop were not harmed and there were no customers in the shop at the time.

The man is white, aged between 20 and 30 years old, between five feet eight inches tall and of medium build. He had short brown hair which was shaved on the sides. He was wearing an Adidas black jacket with three blue stripes down the arms, dark trousers with a yellow trim on the pocket and dark canvas trainers with white strips around the sole.

Shortly after the incident a witness reported that the offender changed his clothing and was wearing a jacket with blue arms and dark patterns on the front.
