NOMINATED: Olivia Retter has been involved in the deaf community since 1987
A BRITISH Sign Language (BSL) interpreter from Rhiwderin, Newport, has been shortlisted for a national award.
Olivia Retter, 61, is one of four nominees in the Communication Professional of the Year category at the 2014 Signature Annual Awards, held at Durham Cathedral on October 10.
It recognises her contributions to the field of deaf communication and language access services.
Ms Retter said: “I’m passionate about breaking down communication barriers between hearing and deaf.”
Ms Retter also volunteers support to students learning BSL and sits on the board of advisors for the Aneurin Bevan Health Board.
