THE latest regeneration proposals for Newbridge town centre will be on display to the public this week.

The next phase regeneration programme is due to get underway later this year and an exhibition of the plans will be held at Tabernacle Baptist Church on High Street from Monday to Sunday between 10am and 3.30pm.

Residents, businesses and town centre users will have an opportunity to view and comment on the proposals. Regeneration officers from the council will also be on hand to discuss the plans in person on Tuesday and Thursday.

The next phase (Phase 3) of the regeneration proposals include a series of environmental enhancements to the eastern corridor of the town, along lower High Street, Bridge Street towards Newbridge School and Leisure Centre, and the transformation of an area of land under the A472 Trecelyn Viaduct.

Cllr Ken James, cabinet member for regeneration, planning and sustainable development, said: “The council continues to work hard to regenerate its communities across the county borough and it is fantastic to see Newbridge benefitting from further European funding.

“The regeneration programme has already delivered major benefits to the town, including the landmark Calzaghe Bridge, improvements to the main High Street and the introduction of distinctive public artwork, and I am confident Phase 3 will build on this success. I hope local residents will take time to attend the exhibition, share their views on the proposals and help shape the future of Newbridge town centre.”

The Newbridge Regeneration Programme is part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) through the Welsh Government.
