TWO Gwent Dragons were joined by former Llanwern steelworker and Newport West MP Paul Flynn on Saturday to unveil show homes at a £2 billion housing development in Newport.
The 47 St Modwen Homes properties at Glan Llyn, in Llanwern, include two, three and four bedroom homes, and are available under the UK government’s Help to Buy scheme.
Wales under-20 international second row and Dragons’ player, Matthew Screech was joined by teammate Cory Hill at the unveiling as well as Mr Flynn, who said: “Having worked at the steelworks from 1962 to 1984 it is deeply satisfying to see new natural beauty emerge.
“St Modwen has earned the gratitude of Newport with the sensitive development of a new community.”
Bev Hall, sales and marketing director said the scheme could serve as a positive catalyst for change in the area.
Glan Llyn will eventually include 4,000 new homes over the next 20 years. The 600-acre site will feature a new leisure and retail centre supported by new education facilities and surrounded by 80 acres of open parkland.
