UPDATE 2.22pm: The cyclist, aged 34, from Magor, is now said to be in a critical condition. The lorry driver, 61, from the MId Glamorgan area, has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and is in police custody.

UPDATE 11.34am: The Wales Air Ambulance landed in the Magor area at 8.42am, left Magor at 8.56am and the patient was with the trauma team at UHW at 9.06am. 

 

UPDATE 10.06am: A Welsh Ambulance Service spokeswoman said they were called at 7.52am to a road traffic collision involving a lorry and a cyclist near the Tesco Distribution Centre on Europark in Magor.

They responded with a paramedic in a rapid response car, a crew in an emergency ambulance and a Wales Air Ambulance, and a man with serious injuries was airlifted to Cardiff’s University Hospital of Wales.

 

UPDATE 9.52am: A CYCLIST has been taken to hospital with ’serious’ injuries following a collision with a lorry this morning.

The collision took place at 7.55am at the Gwent Euro Park, near Magor, where the male cyclist was taken to the University of Wales Hospital by Air Ambulance.

The A4810 is closed and police remain at the scene.

 

WITNESSES have reported that an air ambulance is in attendance at a crash in Magor this morning.

The A4810 Eastern Distribution Road in Magor is reportedly closed in both directions between the Euro Park Industrial Park Roundabout junction and Tata Steelworks entrance, because of accident investigation work.

Police are understood to be directing traffic.
