NEWPORT bank staff have raised money for the mayor’s chosen charities by hosting an event at their branch.
Staff at the TSB bank on Commercial Street raised funds for the Mayor of Newport, councillor Matthew Evans, and his charity appeals for the Teenage Cancer Trust and Newport Sea Cadets.
The fundraiser, which was held yesterday, saw staff dress up in fancy dress outfits and sell cupcakes to raise money.
St Woolos Primary School pupils sang Christmas carols and showed their Christmas card display.
Cllr Charles Ferris also joined in the fun by dressing up as a pirate to raise funds.
Mayor, cllr Matthew Evans said: “The event was very successful and I would like to say thank you to the people of Newport who supported the event by donating and buying cakes.
“The event got everyone into the festive spirit.”
The total amount of money raised for the charities is as yet unknown as it is still being counted.
