TWO Blackwood children have been left in tears after nearly £10,000 worth of belongings including their off-road motorbikes have been stolen from their family garage.

Almost £10,000 worth of belongings has been stolen from The garage on Beech Avenue, in Penllwyn, was broken into between midnight and 6am on SaturdayJanuary 10. Items taken included two off-road motorbikes, a KTM 50CC bike, which is black with green and white graphics worth £800 and a KTM 85CC, worth £2,500, which and wais white with the customised name tag ‘Harrison’.

The two bikes were given as Christmas presents to Harrison, nine9, and Harley, five5, but they had not had the opportunity to ride them bikes yet.

Leanne Coles, 29, mother of the two boys, said: “The little ones were in tears. Motocross is a hobby which we take part in as a family.

“The boys have been looking forward to going out on their bikes after their father’s ankle is healed as he’s just had a major operation on it. They are devastated.”

Thieves also stole a yellow LTZ quad bike worth £3,000 which was jointly owned by Lee Burgess, 30, the boys’ father and family friend Craig Miller, 30.

A Worcester Bosch boiler worth £1,250 was stolen, along with drills which Mr Burgess uses as he is a self-employed gas fitter. Two motocross helmets were also taken; one blue and orange and the other was white.

The family kept the bikes in a secure garage in their rear garden which had a six foot fence which was padlocked. The roller garage doors were wedged opened with a jack and the family estimate it will cost £700 to replace.

The family are offering a £1,000 reward for any information leading to a conviction. Gwent Police asksare appealing for anyone with information to get in contact on 101 quoting log 237 10/01/15.
